 SIKKIM

India is well known for 'Unity in Diversity' and it is portrayed in the most fascinating way in Sikkim. Yet we need to ensure adequate education services for each and every child to maintain the cultural identity of the state.

The adult literacy rate of Sikkim in 2011 was 82.2 percent: 87.29 percent for males and 76.43 percent for females. In the state, there are a total of 1,157 schools, including 765 state government-operated schools, seven central government schools, and 385 private schools. There is one National Importance Institute, one central university and four private universities providing higher education in Sikkim.

Sikkim has a National Technology Institute, currently functioning from a temporary campus in Ravangla, South Sikkim, which is one of the Government of India's ten newly approved NITs under the 11th Five Year Plan, 2009.

There are numerous esteemed schools in Sikkim that are either affiliated to the ICSE or CBSE Board of education which is an epitome of the augmenting standards of Sikkim education. But the major renaissance has been in the field of higher education, owing to the fact that the number of colleges being established is met to the ever increasing demands of the career-minded pupils.

The Sikkim Education System is divided into different levels: Elementary School, High School, Pre-University / College, University, Professional Courses, Diploma / Degree / Certificate. Another integral section of education within Sikkim is the computer learning academies.

English is the medium of instruction in the schools and colleges of Sikkim.

This much-needed initiative in Sikkim's field of education has also restored the entire state education system.

The main colleges across Sikkim that have upgraded the touchstone of education include:

Many scholars, however continue to move for their higher education to Siliguri, Kolkata, Bangalore and other Indian cities.

As we can conclude from the table above, most of the major schools and colleges are located in Gangtok, the capital city. A radical expansion in the development of schools and colleges should be aimed to enhance this condition, and local culture and traditions should also be integrated into the state curriculum.

This is a sequence of 'Sikkim-A land of diverse culture'.......

Keep following for more updates.

THANK YOU😊
